Mr Monkhouse has provided an excellent, highly professional and compassionate service at every stage. From the initial consultation to the follow up care, communication has been top quality. I have been kept informed about all my options throughout the process of diagnosis and treatment. An abundance of information has been provided without being overwhelming, with the opportunity to ask lots of questions along the way. I particularly appreciated the ability to communicate via email. And since my operation, Mr Monkhouse has continued to demonstrate genuine interest and care regarding my recovery and progress. At every stage I have felt respected as an individual. All interactions with Mr Monkhouse, and the results of my surgery, have also demonstrated his complete expertise in his field. I knew I was safe with him, and have no doubt that this confidence aided my recovery.

I cannot express strongly enough what an amazing consultant Mr Monkhouse has been to me. I came into ESH for a routine hernia and had a lot of complications. After being admitted for the 3rd time, Mr Monkhouse took over my care and I am so glad he did. I just knew he would look after me from the first time I met him. He put everything right in theatre as a consultant would do, but it was his caring side which puts him above all the other consultants at ESH. He found the time to visit me on the ward before he went home 2 days after my operation, that meant the world to me that he cares about his patients. I wish Mr Monkhouse every success at ESH, he is a great asset to the hospital.

My experience with Simon Monkhouse was fantastic, every step of the way I was reassured and I felt very well looked after. I was very, very nervous about my procedure but was put at ease by Simon and his team. The aftercare support has been incredible and it is so lovely to have a surgeon/doctor that is so easy to talk to and is hugely passionate about what he does. I would recommend Simon highly. Thank you for changing my life. My experience with my gastric band so far has been amazing.

I was admitted to East Surrey Hospital as an emergency, and subsequently came under Mr Monkhouse's team. My care throughout was extremely good , and I was finally put forward for surgery. Mr Monkhouse performed the operation, and although I later learnt it was not the most straight forward surgery, my recovery was quick and without complication. Mr Monkhouse at all times explained in simple and very detailed ways exactly what was going to happen. He even took the trouble to telephone me in the Day Care Unit as he was tied up in theatre and knew that I was waiting to go home - a gesture very much appreciated, especially as he also explained that he had photographed my "offending" gall stone had emailed it to me. My final appointment was last Friday for my post op check and discharge. Once again the whole procedure was explained. The atmosphere was very relaxed with quite a bit of humour thrown in. It has been a pleasure to be treated by Mr Monkhouse who was always very professional, but also very approachable, and seemed to always make time to talk. I would highly recommend him as an excellent caring surgeon, and I am delighted that he was my surgeon. I have no suggestions for improvement - my whole experience was exceptional.
